LIVE: Video and Channel Optimization -

The experts try to tackle my questions:

How can we find out how much we contribute to the length of time people stay on YouTube?

If we put together playlists with other people’s videos does that count to boost visibility for us?

How to Leverage Investment in Video to Build More Links

Video can be an expensive and time consuming investment….Video is a media type — a form of content delivery — rather than a “type of content” as such. As the old adage goes, “form follows function,” and this is exactly the approach you should be taking when working out the best way to present a creative idea.

YouTube View Counts Can Get Stuck at 301! Now we have an Alert!

YouTube View Counts Can Get Stuck at 301!
Today I noticed that YouTube displays an alert to let you know why the count is stuck at 301.
If you click on…

Frozen view count

Why is the video view count stuck?

Sometimes you might see that the video viewcount isn’t showing all the views you expect. Video views are algorithmically validated to be fair to both content creators and advertisers and maintain a positive user experience. This process assures that the video views are quality views and discards the low quality playbacks.

We want to make sure that all views are validated so during this process the views update less frequently and might occasionally freeze above 300 views to assure quality view count. This is the normal operation in YouTube videos.

If you’ve noticed that a video has had the same view count for awhile, click one of the options below to learn more.

Friday Finds – Google Plus Commenting System

This post is part of the weekly series, Friday Finds, featuring news that deserves a closer look…

Ms. Ileane Smith’s Announcement on Basic Blog Tips

Ileane Smith (a well-respected blogger and early advocate of the CommentLuv commenting system) recently caused some ripples in the blogosphere when she announced that she was (at least temporarily) moving to the Google+ Commenting system and disabling the CommentLuv features of  the CommentLuv Premium plugin on her site.

Ileane Smith’s insight:

Google + Comments are getting tons of attention this week especially after my announcement that I turned off the LUV module of CommentLuv.

It was a great decision on my behalf and ironically I got some benefits from Google + comments that I wasn’t even looking for. Here’s what I told Ana Hoffman about them when I was commenting over on her blog:

Hi Ana,

Thanks for sharing all the awesome info and for the shout out of course!

I just found another brilliant use of Google+ comments. It was super simple for me to just hover over the profiles of everyone who shared and  commented on this post on Google + and just add them to circles.

I felt like a butterfly floating over the page and stopping for a little nectar on my way down. It was effortless.

If I tried to do that with everyone who left comments in WordPress it would take ages and in fact I don’t think I’ve ever attempted that - not even on my own blog.

Speaking of adding people to circles, I’m not sure you saw my video about the two extensions you can use to uncircle people who haven’t circled you back as well as those who haven’t been active.

Google Plus Tip: How To CLEAN UP Your Circles on Google+

One more thing, I’d like to encourage people to donate to our friend +Alex Moss for making such a wonderful Google + comments plugin! We’ve paid more for plugins that do much less.

Lady Bloggers Roundup - Make Money Online With Carol Amato's Internet Marketing Tips

Lady Bloggers Roundup - An Elite Group of Lady Bloggers Who Are the Wind Beneath My Wings…

Ms. Ileane

(http://basicblogtips.com/) – Blogger extraordinaire, Ms. Ileane is great to chat with even if you’re not an Internet marketer. But she’s also a savvy marketer who knows how to use blogs to build strong connections and perpetuate community involvement.

Ms. Ileane’s blog, basicblogtips.com, is not only informative, but a delight to be a part of. If you’ve been with me very long, you know how I believe in blogging to reach business goals and to keep in close touch with the Internet marketing community. Ms. Ileane offers her many skills and strategies to help us focus on the content that will help us all to reach those goals.

A common trait among each of these much admired lady bloggers is that they’re hard workers, persistent and stand up for values and integrity in business and in personal life journeys. Ms. Ileane believes that with attitude and consistency, we can achieve anything we want in life.

I’ve written many posts about content syndication, and Ms. Ileane’s post, How to Get Thousands of Subscribers Using Content Syndication is one of the best explanations and “how-to” guides I’ve seen. She explains how the content can be any type of communication process including news feeds, podcasts, videos, white papers and blog posts – all crafted to pull in subscribers.

Another blog post I revisit a lot is Ms. Ileane’s Blogging Tips 101. Her posts seem to be reflecting what I’m thinking at the moment. A very recent post, “If You Wait for Perfection, You Might Miss the Boat,” seemed aimed directly at me.

I tend to want everything perfect before I make decisions about anything in my life, from business to personal. Sometimes that’s called procrastination. It’s good to wait for clarity in some aspects of life, but sometimes you simply have to act on your intuition and go for it.

I’m blessed to have Ms. Ileane in my life to provide some clarity and a go-to place where I can get some incredible advice from a great lady and fellow IM-er.

Ileane Smith’s insight:

I actually shed a tear when I read this!

Seriously.

4 top tips to recover from Penguin 2.0

So unless you’ve been living beneath a boulder for the last fortnight you will know that Google have once again stirred the search algorithm pot with the release of a major Penguin reform. And when Google acts, SEOs respond….

2: Future-proof your link building strategy

It’s equally important to ensure that going forward you have refined your link building strategy to ensure it is future-proofed from Penguin updates. Some people argue that all “link building” is ultimately not Google compliant, as the very purpose of good quality links is that they should be completely natural. However there are a number of ways in which we can still build quality links that add value to your link profile and will stand the test of time with Google.

There are lots of different techniques you should try, but it comes down to what might work for your business. When re-vamping your link building strategy, read all the resources you can on creative and innovative link building techniques you can find and consider how you could make them work for your business. Here are a few to get you started:

Digital Audio Editors: A Collection of 25 Free Tools for All Platforms

Robin Good: Here is a useful guide to 25 free audio editors, both for PC and Mac, which can solve most of your problems when it comes to audio editing, conversion and recording.

The mini-reviews are not super, but the collection per se is quite useful indeed.

The guide also includes some nifty digital instruments and tools like Hydrogen (for Linux) fro drumpad programming, the Kangas Sound Editor to create music and sound effects, AudioCutter which is very useful to split large MP3 files.

P.S.: Unfortunately the short reviews (some of which are a bit incomplete) fail to specify which apps are for PC and which for Mac, but you can derive - in many cases - it by looking at the screenshots
